What's your school's vaccination rate?

The map above shows schools in Texas that reported vaccination numbers for the 2018-2019 school year, the most recent available. To find the measles vaccination rate at a school located in Houston, Conroe and Cypress-Fairbanks independent school districts, click the drop down menu and search for your school. For all other schools, search for your district’s rate.

The schools that have met the herd immunity standard of 95% are shown in green, and the schools that fall below a measles vaccination rate below 95% are shown in red.

The State of Texas only releases vaccination rates at the school district level. Some districts in the Houston area have hundreds of campuses, making the data hard to rely on for information about the particular school your children attend.

Attempts to mandate campus-level data failed in the last two legislative sessions, despite warnings from public health officials who say it can be helpful.

Using open records laws, 13 Investigates obtained measles vaccination rates by campus. The 2018-2019 rates are mapped here. Doctors suggest a vaccination percentage rate in the mid-90s is enough to develop what's called 'Herd Immunity,' a level high enough to protect the larger population.

Statewide, 29% of kindergarten campuses (public & private) are below that level. By seventh grade, it is just 12%.

While we asked many area districts for campus-level data, only Houston, Cy-Fair & Conroe ISDs replied by deadline. When more data comes in, we will add it to our map. The data is only available for kindergarten and seventh grades. Private schools each report as a standalone district.

Outside the immediate Houston area, Texas school district data is used on the map.
