This page was created by Lindsey Feingold. Data is from the California Department of Public Health. On February 10th, 2022, a one-time change to the data source for cases and deaths occurred. The sourcing was switched from individual county websites (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano and Sonoma) to totals by reported date from the California Department of Public Health. Case, death, and hospital data are available on California's Open Data Portal. The California Department of Public Health does not release updates on COVID-19 every day, sometimes leading to a larger number of cases and deaths reported after the fact. Vaccine data was phased out of this tracker on December 15th, 2022. Transmission data, previously provided by the CDC, was phased out of this tracker on August 29, 2023.
